SPECIAL GUESTS

Ziv and Gali HEadsot

Ziv & Gali Berman

Ziv and Gali are 28-year-old twin brothers and best friends since birth. Always inseparable, they share the same close-knit group of friends, a love of soccer, and even a career. Together, they worked as light technicians in the Israeli entertainment industry, side by side in both life and work.

On October 7, both Ziv and Gali were in the young adults’ neighborhood of Kibbutz Kfar Aza. Gali went early that morning to be with his friend Emily Damari, who was afraid to be alone, while Ziv remained in his room. Hamas terrorists abducted Ziv, Gali, and Emily at gunpoint and forced them into Gaza in Emily’s car after setting homes on fire.

Once inside Gaza, the terrorists separated the twins—marking the longest time Ziv and Gali had ever been apart in their lives, after never knowing whether the other had survived.

Ziv and Gali will share the unimaginable pain of that separation, the strength that carried them through, and the moment of profound joy when they were reunited. Their story is a powerful testament to the endurance of the human spirit and the unbreakable bond of family.

WHY?

At Jewish Federation of San Diego, we are dedicated to fostering a vibrant, caring, secure, and connected Jewish community. Our distinct vantage point empowers us to identify the most pressing issues and mobilize community builders, philanthropists, leaders, and resources to address them. Our work is guided by four mission-aligned priorities:

Building a Vibrant Jewish Future
Federation invests in transformational experiences that inspire a lifelong love of Judaism, strengthen resilience, and deepen community bonds. By cultivating strong leadership and experiences rooted in Jewish values, we ensure a cohesive, dynamic community for generations to come.
Creating a Resilient & Secure Community
We invest in security initiatives and programs that combat antisemitism and enhance teen resilience, ensuring safe and welcoming spaces for all. Globally, we amplify our impact by partnering with organizations dedicated to standing against hate.
Caring for Jews in Need
We are committed to supporting the most vulnerable in our community—seniors, Holocaust Survivors, families in crisis, and teens struggling with mental health—so no one is left behind. In times of global crises, we mobilize resources to provide care, support, and hope.
Connecting with Israel & Global Jewry
Federation strengthens bonds between San Diego, Israel, and global Jewish communities through travel, education, and cultural exchange. By partnering worldwide, we safeguard at-risk populations, nurture emerging communities, and foster lasting connections to Israel for the next generation.
